A Swedish man who admitted to killing two women, drinking their blood and cutting bits of flesh from their bodies to eat has been sent to a locked hospital.
Lawyers for the 29-year-old man agreed with prosecutors that he is mentally ill and that he should not be free, The Local reported.
The man sat through the first half-hour of a court hearing, listening to a prosecutor read the charge and his lawyer submit his confession. He then passed a note to his lawyer saying he wanted to leave and was escorted out.
During the remainder of the hearing, the judge listened to a tape of the man's confession to police and heard testimony from the boyfriend of one of the victims. The boyfriend, who was arrested and held for several days, described how a man burst into their apartment and stabbed his girlfriend.
The judge ordered $93,000 compensation to the victims' families.
